Answered during the hours below. If nobody picks up, leave a number and we will call back the same working day.

Hours and response time
Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 UK time. We reply to every email within one working day. Complaints are acknowledged the same working day and resolved within five.

What we can help with

  • Anything about your account, your plan, your allowance or your billing.
  • Cancelling, refunds and the 14-day statutory right.
  • A reading that has misread your quotation — tell us and we will look at it.
  • Requests about your personal data, including a copy of it or its deletion.
  • Accessibility barriers on any page.
  • Reporting misuse of a reading against a contractor.

What we cannot help with

  • Whether a price is reasonable, high or low. The service does not look at figures and neither will we.
  • Which of two firms to use, or whether a firm is any good.
  • Cost estimating, quantity surveying or budget advice.
  • Reviewing your contract, or advising on a dispute with a contractor.
  • Anything about the building work itself — take that to a competent professional.

Saying no to these is not a limitation we are working around. It is what keeps this a tool for asking questions rather than one for making allegations.

If something is not listed, does that mean the firm is planning to add it on later?

No. That is not what this tells you, and it is not a conclusion you should draw from it.

Firms itemise very differently. Plenty of them fold waste removal into the labour line and never write it separately. Some rely on local convention for what a job of this type obviously includes. Some write short quotations because that is how they have always written them.

An item that is not written down is a question worth putting, not a gap you can assume. That is why every not-listed item on this site arrives with the same note attached, and why the interface never renders one in red.

  • 02

Can you tell me whether this price is reasonable?

No. This service does not look at figures at all.

Every amount on a quotation you upload is covered over in your browser before anything leaves your device, so there is nothing here to compare against a market rate even if we wanted to. We do not offer cost consultancy, budget estimating, quantity surveying or contract review, and we do not compare one firm's quotation against another firm's to say which is better value.

What this service answers is which items a job of this type usually itemises. Not what any of them should cost.

  • 03

What happens to the photograph of my quotation?

The firm's name, its contact details, its address and every figure on the page are covered over in your browser, before the image is sent anywhere. The redaction is applied to the pixels, not laid over them.

The original photograph is never uploaded and never stored. Only the redacted version is processed, and it is deleted once your reading is complete.

Quotations you upload are not used to train any model. That is written into the privacy notice as a commitment, not a preference.

  • 04

    How accurate is the reading?

The reading has two halves, and they are not equally uncertain.

Extracting the item text from your photograph is done by an image model, and it can misread handwriting, poor lighting or an unusual layout. Check the extracted items against your own copy before you rely on them.

Deciding which standard items are absent is not done by a model at all. It is a set difference computed in your browser between the extracted items and a fixed list held on this site for that category of job. No model judges your quotation.

The service can be wrong about what your quotation says. It never claims to be right about what your quotation should say.

  • 05

Can I use the output to complain about a contractor, or to push the price down?

No, and the terms of use prohibit it.

You may not use anything this service produces in a complaint, as leverage in a negotiation, in a public review of a firm, or as evidence in any dispute or court proceedings.

It exists so you can ask better questions before the work starts. Used as ammunition it would be both unfair to the firm and unreliable, because it knows nothing about your site, your local practice, or how that firm writes its quotations.

How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?

You can cancel a plan at any time from your billing page. It takes two clicks and you do not need to contact us or explain why. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

You also have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Because this is a digital service delivered immediately, that right ends only if you have expressly asked us to start straight away and acknowledged that doing so ends it — which is why the checkout asks you to tick two separate boxes rather than one.

If you did not tick both, the 14-day right survives and you can have a refund. The full detail, including the statutory cancellation form, is on the cancellation page.
