Policy
Acceptable use policy
One rule matters more than the rest: what this service produces is for asking a firm a question, and may not be used against that firm in a complaint, a negotiation, a review or a dispute.

- 01What this policy is for
This policy sets out how Notquoted may be used. It forms part of the terms of use, and breaking it is a breach of them. It applies to everybody, on every plan, including the free one.
- 02The output may not be used against a contractor
This is the prohibition that matters most, so it comes first. You may not use a reading, a comparison sheet, a question card, or anything else this service produces:
- in a complaint about a firm, whether made to the firm, to a trade body, to a regulator, to a local authority or to anybody else;
- as leverage in a negotiation over price, scope or terms;
- in a public review, rating, comment, forum post or social media post about a firm or an individual;
- as evidence, an exhibit, or the basis of an allegation in any dispute, adjudication, mediation, arbitral process or court proceedings;
- to assert, imply or suggest to anyone that a firm has under-priced, concealed, misrepresented or acted improperly in any way;
- in any communication that presents the output as an assessment of a firm's competence, honesty or value.
The reason is simple. This service does not know your site, your local practice, or how that firm writes quotations. An item it reports as not listed may be priced into another line, covered by local convention, or already agreed with you verbally. Presented as a finding against a business, it would be both unfair and unreliable.
What the output is for is asking the firm a question before the work starts. That is the only use it is fit for.
- 03High-risk uses that are prohibited
You may not use this service, or rely on its output, for any decision in these areas:
- medical, clinical or health decisions of any kind;
- legal advice, legal proceedings, or determining legal rights or obligations;
- financial advice, lending, investment or insurance decisions;
- safety-critical decisions, including structural, fire, gas or electrical safety;
- employment decisions, including hiring, discipline or dismissal;
- credit decisions or credit scoring;
- housing decisions, including tenancy, eviction or allocation;
- any judicial, quasi-judicial or law-enforcement purpose.
Building work touches safety. If a question raised by a reading is about structure, fire, gas or electricity, take it to a competent professional, not to this service.
- 04What you may upload
A photograph or screenshot of a quotation for building work that you have been given, or that you are otherwise entitled to use. That is it.
You may not upload:
- documents you have no right to hold or process;
- anything containing another person's personal data beyond what appears on a quotation addressed to you;
- special category data — health information, biometric data, and the rest;
- identity documents, bank statements, medical records or anything else that is not a quotation;
- material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene or infringing;
- malware, or files crafted to attack the service.
Remember that the redaction covers the letterhead, the figures column and the totals block automatically, and that you can cover anything else yourself before the image is sent. Use it.
- 05How you may use the service itself
You may not:
- resell, sublicense or make the service available to people outside your household or business as if it were your own;
- share one account between several people, or share sign-in details;
- scrape, crawl, or extract the standard item lists in bulk;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the underlying models;
- use automated means to submit readings at a volume no person could;
- attempt to bypass the redaction step, the credit allowance, or any access control;
- probe, scan or test the security of the service without our written permission.
- 06Fair use of an unlimited plan
Where a plan says unlimited, it means unlimited for a person reading their own quotations. It does not cover automated submission, bulk processing on behalf of others, or use as a backend for another product. If usage looks like that, we will get in touch before we do anything else.
- 07What happens if this policy is broken
Depending on what has happened, we may ask you to stop, suspend the account while we look into it, or end it. Where we can, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to put it right first.
Where an account is ended for a breach, we refund the unused part of the current period unless the breach caused us loss.
- 08Reporting a problem
If you think somebody is using this service in one of the ways prohibited above, or you have found a security problem, write to support@irobuilding.shop. We take reports about the misuse of readings against contractors particularly seriously.
If anything on this page is unclear, write to support@irobuilding.shop or call +44 7763879472. Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 UK time. We reply to every email within one working day.
