Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at level AA, checked during development rather than audited afterwards. Contrast is measured by a script that runs against the colour tokens, and the measured values are recorded in a comment at the top of the stylesheet so that a change to a colour cannot quietly break them.

These are calculated sRGB relative luminance ratios, not estimates:

The three markers sit between 3:1 and 4.5:1. They are used for marks, borders and large text only. Body text is always one of the two colours at the top of the table, both of which clear AA for normal-size text.

Each of the four item states has a distinct shape as well as a colour, and every place a state appears also carries its name in words. A row that is not listed says “Not listed — ask” in text. Nothing on this site is conveyed by colour alone.

This matters more here than on most sites, because the whole product is a distinction between four categories.

• The comparison is a real table, with a caption and row and column scopes, so a screen reader announces each row against its heading.
• A skip link is the first thing in the tab order.
• Focus is a solid two-pixel outline at 14:1, never a faint glow, and it is never removed.
• The hero animation is decoration over a table that is complete in the markup from the first paint; nothing is announced late or twice.
• Everything honours prefers-reduced-motion — animations stop, and the finished table is shown immediately.
• Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, including the category tabs and the redaction tool.
• Text reflows to 320px without horizontal scrolling, and scales to 200% without loss of content.
• Form fields have persistent visible labels, not placeholders standing in for them.
• A print stylesheet produces a clean black-on-white sheet, because people take these to a conversation.

Stated because a statement that claims perfection is not useful:

• Drawing a redaction box by hand is a pointer gesture. There is a keyboard path — select a region from a list of page thirds and confirm — but it is coarser than dragging, and we would like it to be better.
• The extracted item text comes from a photograph, so its reading order depends on the layout of the original document.
• Long comparison tables scroll horizontally on very narrow screens. The container scrolls, not the page, but it is still a scroll.
